Typical applications

The six flat sides of hexagonal bar make it easy to grip with a spanner, which is why it is the standard starting material for nuts, bolts, fasteners, fittings, couplings, valve components and other turned parts. It is widely used in engineering workshops, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and marine and process equipment.

Which grade should I choose?

Choose 303 when the part will be heavily machined, as it is the free-machining stainless grade. Choose 316 when corrosion resistance comes first, such as in marine or chemical service. Aluminium suits lightweight parts, and EN8 suits tougher, wear-resistant components that do not need to be stainless.
